Australia Remembers – Mr Gordon Laing and the planned attack on Australia in 1942

In this video, Mr Gordon Laing shares his memories about Veterans protecting Australia from the planned attack by Japan on Townsville in 1942.

The Japanese planned an attack on Port Moresby. They were scheduled to attack Port Moresby in the first week in May 1942. Following the invasion of Port Moresby, six Japanese aircraft carriers were due to head southwards to mount a massive 300 aircraft air-raid on Townsville. The invasion never happened.

Mr Laing is a proud Veteran and member of the Currumbin RSL Veterans Support Centre and its Club. This is his story.
